Piedmont Laureate David Menconi and Durham's blues history
Join 2019 Piedmont Laureate David Menconi for a discussion with area historians including Darrell Stover, Glenn Hinson, and Bill Phillips about Durham's illustrious and nearly forgotten history as a center for blues -- going back to the 1930s heyday of Blind Boy Fuller, Rev. Gary Davis, Sonny Terry, and Brownie McGhee. Piedmont bluesman Lightnin' wells will be there to lend a tune and demonstrate what we'll be talking about.
